A Tribe Called Red is an Indigenous DJ crew and founders of the “electric powwow.” A Tribe Called Red have been making waves across Canada and are dubbed as “the originators of a new sound” (MTV) and having “the most exciting music in Indian Country” (Wab Kinew).

The trio is made of two-time Canadian DMC Champion DJ Shub, DJ NDN and Bear Witness, who have created a signature style called Pow Wow Step, a mix of traditional powwow vocals and drumming with cutting-edge electronic music. The groupʼs success has grown from their Electric Powwow events in Ottawa, which were created to continue the idea of powwow culture by bringing people together to celebrate good music, dance, and most of all, to have a good time.
