Liz MacDougall

Liz Mac Dougall is an experimental and documentary video director and producer. Her videos combine documentary, storytelling and images drawn from the subconscious. She has worked in the past with survivors of abuse, facilitating self expression through video as a tool for both healing and political empowerment.
Liz is the director/producer for the award winning documentary "Time To Heal". In her more recent work about trauma and dissociation, the Birth of Sybling, Liz rewrites the story of rape as originally told in the bible.
Liz's video are screened at art festivals and in hundreds of community centres across the country.
Liz is a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and has also studied film and video production in San Diego and Vancouver. More recently Liz has continued her exploration of female narrative through interactive media. As the coordinator of the ID Collective, she collaborates with other artists creating web-based and interactive art projects. She teaches workshops in digital video and computer animation through the Centre for Art Tapes and at NSCAD in Halifax.
