Zev Asher

Zev Asher was born in Montreal in 1963 (Zev Asher (May 9, 1963 – August 7, 2013). He has recorded and performed extensively with a number of abrasive musical acts including NIMROD and ROUGHAGE. He appears on over a dozen CD's, LP's, cassettes and videos. He has also organized and orchestrated a number of semi-lavish multiple media noise performances in Canada and Japan.
Zev lived in Tokyo and Osaka for several years, working as a news announcer and DJ (KISS-FM, Kobe) and doing voice over for TV and radio.
In 1994, he visited Croatia and began work on his first film/video, "Rat Art: Croatian Independents". This documentary was completed in Jan. 1998 and has screened in Canada and the U.S.
In 1995/96, Zev was artist-in-residence at VFS Multimedia (Vancouver Film School), during which he created a CD-Rom on Croatian artists.
Zev has most recently completed a "New Media" residency at The Canadian Film Centre's Medialinx Habitat, during which he developed the prototype for an interactive documentary entitled, "Gentle Subversion - The Canadian Psyche on Film".
