Artist

Jackie Pardon

Jackie Pardon, video artist, has exhibited in the U.S. and Europe, in galleries, festivals, at universities -- and has screened her work in college prison programs, as well. The artist received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Art and Design at Alfred University in 1975.

As a media programmer, Pardon has curated several programs in the area, including the Saratoga Arts Center’s NEW MEDIA AND NATIVE AMERICA: THE WORK OF MELANIE PRINTUP HOPE. Since 1992, she has programmed the alternative series VIDEO ON VIDEO at the Saratoga Springs Public Library, bringing experimental video artists to this semi-rural upstate city to screen their work and sponsoring a yearly Open Screen for area media artists.

Pardon is Director of the Media Center Project, started in 2001 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Its mission is to help this city pursue public (PEG) access and federally mandated funds through re-negotiation of its cable TV contract, and to dedicate those efforts to the establishment of a community media center. As a consultant to the Mayor’s Office on this issue, she made a formal recommendation for the City’s launching of the cable franchise renewal process, which will begin in September of 2003. The Media Center Project is now working with Saratoga County on establishing county-wide support for municipal cable contract renewals.

Pardon has been on the board of International Film Seminars since 2001.
