Gricel Severino is a Latin queer activist from Venezuela. Writer, actor, theatre director, independent video filmmaker and drag king performer, she is now based in Toronto.
Gricel has done five short films that have been screening different Film Festivals in Canada, Colombia, U.S.A., France, Brasil and Venzuela.
Gricel last exhibition was at gallery1313 in Beyond our Roots is a Visual Arts Exhibition presented by the Latino Canadian Cultural Association.
She has been working in El encuentro entre Nosotras for the LBTQI Latin community for Pride events.
Her Work in Canada as an actor and theatre director includes: Rompiendo el Silencio, Disconnected, Sweet and Better Woman, Anonym, Face, C86 and Nothing Sacred Anymore, She also was performing in the theatre festival Women in Scene in Colombia Bogota in 2009.
Since 2000, Severino is known for performing as a drag king at various solidarity events in Toronto. She has been showcased at Sexing Change Conference, Pride 2001-2009, also at May Works Festival, in Ohio, U.S.A.
