Pipilotti Rist at Luhring Augustine

by Michael Rush

Art in America, Sept. 2000, v. 88, no. 9, p. 143

Brief review of Pipilotti Rist's first solo show in New York. In front of the gallery, Rist set up a domestic "fun house" complete with kitchen and living room, in which she projected videos onto couches, lamps, tables etc. Images of naked bodies, including her own, manifest an exploration into feminine sexuality. Her final work in the show was in the bathroom, where Rist installed a camera inside the toilet bowl and placed a monitor infront of it.
