A Producer's View
Criteria, Feb. 1976, v. 2, no. 1, pp. 8-9, 14
French/English imbalance in Canadian film, American audiences, funding and market shares, themes and formulas of feature filmmaking, and regional difference. "The country's too strung out to have a tight film community, even though Toronto tends to be the centre of English language filmmaking, and Montreal, French language filmmaking. The personal friendships and allegiances are very limited. One or two films together is as much as you can maintain, financially and emotionally, because they're so long between jobs." (9)
