When There Is No Limit To Spirit: Tall Orders: On the Spiritual in Art
Fuse, Jan. Winter 2000, v. 22, no. 4, pp. 53-55
Tall Orders: On the Spiritual in Art, curated by Gary Michael Dault, is an exhibition of twelve Canadian artists, four men and eight women. The exhibition focuses on the spiritual as addressed from the standpoints of space, body, and mind, in relation to the histories of diaspora. Though the exhibition is not curated as to address questions of religion directly, works in the exhibition touch on connections between spirituality and religion. Elizabeth Fearon's video Snow Angels, addresses spirituality from the viewpoint of a child (which is really the artist dressed up in winter clothes), looking at the sky and imitating bird flight. Fearon captures the spiritual in a quiet moment removed from the busy everyday.
