Lifelong Dusting, and Learning

by Noreen Shanahan

Our Times, Feb. 2008, v. 27, no. 1, pp. 38-39

Review of Margrit Eichler and Laura Sky's Household Work: More than it Seems in Our Times, in a special interest labour magazine. Household Work is based on a research project at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) which captured the lives of particiants, mostly women, and the physical, mental and emotional tasks they perform for a household. The video attempts to increase the visibility of household work but also to show how personal growth and lifelong learning skills are acquired through maintaining one's home and family. Household Work also shows how those who experience a major life change must often learn new household and care work skills.
