The authors of this article state that arguably, the first video art piece was created by Name June Paik and consisted of a recording of himself taking a cab ride to a gallery. This piece was then shown at that gallery. The exhibition the two author/curators have created is an overview of various types of video art. This includes abstract video art, installation art that uses video, videographic art, performance video and conceptual video. "Artist's Video" , the curators state, "is an attempt to provide a platform for artists who are attempting to use technology rather than be used by it."
