In Janice Hladki's article, "Nothing Big. Nothing Small": Allyson Mitchell's Video Autobiography she puts into analysis Mitchell's 2000 video, My Life in 5 Minutes. Hladki postulates that through a series of montage and lyical voice overs that Mitchell offers critical challenges to representational practices and to conventional modes of media production. This is then broken down and spoken specifically to issues of sexuality, weight, social debate, and questions of Western (Canadian specific) cultural domination.
