This article is a first-person reflection on the life and work of Bonnie Sherr Klein, an American filmmaker who largely worked in Canada. Committed to social justice Sherr Klein used documentary film and video as an educational tool. Early projects with the National Film Board, include their Challenge for Change series, which aimed to use film as a tool for social change across Canada. She was also involved with the National Film Board’s Studio D, a women’s film unit. Throughout her career, whatever subject she turned to explore, she demonstrated a commitment to giving voice to the female perspective.
