This article provides a summary of the events of the 1976 Conference of Visual Anthropology (COVA), organized by the Society for the Anthropology of Visual Communication in conjunction with Philadelphia’s Temple University. The event offered a wide range of film programs and panel discussions, dealing with, among other things, bias in filmic depictions of natives, the importance of editing, and the anthropological value of various types of records.
