Gerry Schum
Studio International, May 1973, v. 185, no. 955, pp. 236-237
Georg Jape argues that Gerry Schum was a pioneer of video art, materializing the transition of film to video, video to television, and avant garde art to the public. Schum's style of creating new, video specific work, as opposed to documentary work, is discussed. There is also a description of Schum's 1969 Land Art Television Gallery, in which many early video artists were able to show their work on television. There is also musing on the German video art scene, and the impact of Gerry Schum's passing on the video art scene. Some punctuation is a bit strange due to translation.
