In this personal account of cross-cultural identification, Zheng Miao Xian describes his fascination with Japanese culture. Responding to racial discrimination, he negates his Chinese heritage and appropriates the Japanese culture in its place, which manifests itself in an annual ritualized performance commemorating the anniversary of Japanese authour, poet and playwright Yukio Mishima.
