Share the Blame:: I. "The Spirit Sings II. "Revisions"

by Marie Morgan and Peter Gzowksi

Vanguard, Apr 1988, v. 17, no. 2, pp. 15-19

The Spirit Sings was a 1988 exhibition put on by the Glenbow Museum in conjunction with the Olympic Arts Festival; to force the government to action on land claims, the Lubicon Cree asked native groups to boycott this exhibition. The first part of this article, "The Spirit Sings," is a transcribed dialogue between Michael Ames, who does not support the boycott, and Bruce Trigger, who does support the boycott, that aired on the CBC radio programme "Morningside." In the second part of the article, Marie Morgan reviews the exhibition "Revisions", which emerged as a counterpoint to the Glenbow exhibition and as a support for Lubicon's political action. Morgan reviews various works, including Mike MacDonald's Electronic Totem.
