by T.J. Demos

Artforum, Nov. 2010, pp. 222-227

This article discusses some of Manon de Boer's recent films. Demos looks at how de Boer plays with and disrupts the relationship between sound and image in pieces such as Dissonant (2010), a film of a dance performance, and Two Times 3'44" (2008), a film using John Cage's famous silent composition. The article also at the relationship between perception and sensation in Resonating Surfaces (2005) and Sylvia Kristel - Paris (2003), as well as the notion of politics in both films.
