Monitoring the Vital Signs: The American Film Institute Video Festival

"What is the current state of video art?" These are the kinds of questions that are raised by the AFI Video Festival and examined through their new works programme. Based on this program, the article concludes that the field of video art (at the time) was not being dominated by any one particular approach, both conceptually and technically speaking.
