David Rokeby: Nervous Systems

In this article, Carson relates how David Rokeby uses new software and technology to explore the viewer's relationship with the system, as opposed to the image. "Rokeby likens user interfaces to belief systems that reinforce assumptions about the way things are." Rokeby's interactive artworks place the viewer as surveyed and not active within the functioning of piece. In so doing, Rokeby explores the limitations set upon us by our belief systems.
