Negotiating the Nation: "Expanding" the Work of Joyce Wieland
Canadian Journal of Film Studies, Fall 2006, v. 15, no. 2, pp. 20-43
In this analysis of Joyce Wieland's practice, Kristy A. Holmes-Moss frames her work using Gene Youngblood's concept of "expanded cinema." By closely exploring Wieland's links to issues of feminism, sexuality, and the notion of the Canadian nation, Holmes-Moss allows for a new discourse on the historical, political and cultural relevance of her artistic production.
Key words: experimental film, Canadian nationalism
