Cyclical Time: The Trap
Artpapers.org, Jan. 21, 2013, no. 37:01, pp. 37-39
Gaweewong begins the article with a basic overview of Buddhist ideology and practices, and their relationship to cultural notions of time. She then goes into greater detail about particular Thai artists who examine and incorporate "time" in their video work. Gaweewong points to Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Sompot Chidgasornpongse, Prapon Kumjim, and Wit Pimkanchanapong, as examples. The different approaches these artists have taken demonstrate the diverse nature of time-based works.
