Redressing Invisibility
Film Quarterly, Fall 2008, v. 62, no. 1, pp. 102-103
Beth Mauldin looks at the idea that mainstream film-making's techniques to represent reality can be seen as inadequate. She discusses how alternative filmmakers use "the realm of the invisible", the holes in history, to create more powerful depictions of traumatic events. She does so by looking at filmmakers of several cultures, from Germany, to India, to Canadian First Nations.
