Glitter and Glitch: Undressing the Art of Videofag
Carbon Paper, Mar. 2013, pp. 19-20
The small Kensington Market gallery Videofag opened in the fall of 2012 under the purview of William Ellis and Jordan Tannahill. The gallery features a diverse array of pop-up exhibitions and events from artists with a multiplicity of interests, disciplines, and levels of establishment but has a specific interest local artists, particularly those interested in exploring fringe or radical art practices, and as the name suggests, work by queer artists. The casual communal atmosphere can accommodate video, installations, print works and paintings, films screenings, performances, and readings.
This piece reviews the exhibition titled "Esthetics of Failure," curated by Adrienne Cosman and featuring 20 local artists who engage with the art of technology and glitch. Marceau specifically discusses four works from the exhibition who examine glitch from a variety of perspectives.
