Synthetic Pleasures

This article details a documentary, titled Synthetic Pleasures, about technology and cyber culture, which showed at the 1996 Toronto International Film Festival. The author explores the topics covered in the documentary through three themes: synthetic environments, synthetic bodies, and synthetic identities. While the film shows many of the exciting possibilities of technological advancement, it is also acknowledged that technology can be harnessed to our detriment as well. The author notes that now is the time to determine a code of ethics for our technological agenda.
