Decon 2 (Decon Squared)
Leonardo, 2003, v. 36, no. 4, pp. 285-290
Steve Mann, artist and professor of computer engineering at the University of Toronto, reflects on his own work in this "artist's article." In particular he writes about the installation “Prior Art: Art of Record for Personal Safety.” Mann plays with the abbreviation "decon" and its double meanings of "deconstruction" as well as "decontamination," both in the article and in his construction of an "anthrax-ready mailroom." The work also includes a video surveillance component.
