WikiLeaks and Anonymous Respond to Status Quo Journalism: Wikileaks and Anonymous challenge global hegemonies of power and the popular narratives that underpin them.

by Christian Christensen

Aljazeera, July 29, 2013

Christensen argues against mainstream media outlets and the journalism in which they present in both Europe and North America. He asserts that major media outlets fail to engage in critical investigations for the majority of published articles. What he argues for is a new form of exposition, which is presented by WikiLeaks and the hacktivist group Anonymous; he argues that they exist because technology allows them to exist. He aligns his argument with the work of Michel Foucault in The Concern for Truth.
