This article examines the work made by artist-duo Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt, known collectively as Semiconductor. Since the late 1990s, the two have been utilizing digital imaging technologies, statistical and scientific data sets, and contemporary concepts in the natural sciences to create innovative digital artworks that incorporate the latest scientific and filmmaking technologies. Accordingly, Husbands examines the link between science filmmaking and experimental cinema, while also exploring the philosophical dimensions of Semiconductor's work and how that correlates with their interest in the natural world.
