Like Mangoes in July: The Work of Richard Fung
Insomiac Press, 2002
This article offers a brief overview of Fung's videotape Chinese Characters. Directed by Richard Fung and shot by John Greyson in 1986, the tape relates the ambiguous relationship between gay Asian men and white gay porn. In 1988, Chinese Characters was one of 39 tapes selected for an inaugural exhibition at the new National Gallery of Canada. Likewise, it is one of the earliest tapes listed under the keywords "race" and "sexuality" in V tape online catalogue.
