Karlsruhe: ZKM, 2002

This article details 3 of Peter Weibel's installation works. Weibel's earlier works use the closed circuit monitor as a way of revealing the inherent limits of observation, and the threatening, or violent nature of observation as control. In his latest work the Panoptic Society or Immortally in Love with Death-- a fictitious prisoner uses the surveillance tactics of the state as a way to turn his existence into a public spectacle.
