Vtape Welcomes Four New Participants

Vtape Welcomes Four New Participants

We are pleased to announce that we have made our selections for the upcoming Curatorial Incubator v.13 series of programming and workshops. Earlier this year we posted a call for submissions for emerging curators to propose a project that somehow fit within our chosen theme of “The Job of Life”. Selected participants will have an opportunity to hone their curatorial skills in the media arts in a number of important ways: attending specialized workshops conducted by arts professionals; conducting independent research using the rich resources available through Vtape; writing a curatorial essay for their program of selected titles, with invaluable editorial assistance provided by an arts professional; and, finally, presenting their curated program to the public.

This year’s selection was undertaken by independent curator cheyanne turions and Vtape Creative Director Lisa Steele. We received many impressive submission packages and the choice was extremely tough, but the two jurors finally managed to narrow it down to four young curators who they felt had an especially unique perspective on how work and life relate to one another.  Anyways, without any further adieu the four curators that we have selected are Emily Marshall (Kingston, ON), Erin MacMillan (London, ON), Nahed Mansour (Toronto, ON), and Yaniya Lee (Toronto, ON). We also would like to thank everyone else who submitted applications and would encourage you to apply again next year. Please check back soon for more information regarding these selected curators, their research, and eventually the projects they will be curating for our 2016 spring programming schedule.
