TAPECODE 002.04.2

The dramatic portion of The Lull Before The Storm explores the histories of working class women and men in the post-war transition. It centres on changing definitions of femininity and the impact of these on family working life.
Drawing on popular, theoretical and media representations of women's nature, The Lull juggles these around a central, yet discontinuous narrative. This is ostensibly the story of Dorothy Sanderson, her son Bobby, and her husband George. Dorothy moves between waitressing, the aircraft assembly line, homemaking and childrearing. George traverses the logging industry, World War II, and construction, while Bobby gets older.
