This tape is a portrait of Lucy Brown, one of the residents of the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home in Springdale, Newfoundland. "Besides telling me straight out that she loves me, that particular smile convinces me she means it. Not every time but almost every time, when Lucy suddenly knows I am there, sitting near her or watching her with the camera up to my eye or not, she gives me that smile: a beautiful modest graceful inner smile from inside her bobbing head, and both she and I know there is a young woman in there somewhere, flirtatious, shining and delicate."
