From the Transit Bar is a video installation on the second floor of the Museum Fridericianum in the form of a piano bar, with recorded and live sound, furniture and props, and with texts, photographs and video carrying the narrative or interlacement of narratives. It is a work about being between worlds, itself situated between worlds, between art and life in such a way as to enable each to comment on, and open possibilities in the other. It is a kind of question. In a public space where existing traffic patterns are altered and made intimate, From The Transit Bar relies on a shared understanding of a common experience. The videotaped stories have the quality of the almost confessional exchanges made between strangers moved by the protection of anonymity to tell each other something about their lives, whether urgent or banal, believing they'll never meet again.
