In his letters addressed to Jacques Riviere, Antonin Artaud writes: "Body motions run haywire is sort of death exhaustion, mind fatigued at simplest muscular tension ... sort of localized numbness on skin surface ... so that the mere act of standing is achieved only at the price of a victorious struggle."
In "Liquid Ice" Artaud's physical and mental states, his feeling of isolation and helplessness are compared with the position and the role of the goal-keeper in an ice hockey game.
