"We will paddle 170 miles to Seattle in a six day journey, as we once did all the time, but now, it is considered a feat, and the teamwork and the unity necessary to do this will express itself amongst all people, that we can all dare to dream, and we can make realities out of those dreams, as an extended family." Tsay-Ha-Pis Haba

The Quileute people have lived in their ancestral lands of LaPush, Washington, since the last glacial period. It is only within the last two hundred years that the oral wisdom and traditions have been threatened with extinction. Having recognized the danger of losing their teachings entirely, the Quileutes turned to their culture, their songs and dances, their medicines, their canoes. They called on the elders for direction.
A four year video project documents the preparations and the extraordinary paddle from the ancient village of LaPush to the skyscrapers of Seattle. The tape captures not only the hardships of the physical journey, but the inner striving toward culture, integrity and pride.
