Continuons le combat (Don't Give Up The Fight)

Pierre Falardeau

1971, 30:00 minutes, B&W, French & English version

TAPECODE 207.00

The television footage of a wrestling match is employed as a metaphor of Quebec Society. In voice over, Falardeau proposes a compelling analysis of the structure of the ritual of wrestling: the good guy/underdog, the evil antagonist, the force of order, the desire of the crowd. It is a ritual of catharsis, vindication and release. Continuons le combat was produced in the aftermath of the October Crisis 1970 and the spirit of the tape is subtly charged with the bitter experience and political aspiration of the period in the history of Quebec.
