What Television Teaches

Christa Schadt

TAPECODE 249.11

This tape is an edited version of one full day of TV viewing. What I did was tape snippits of programs from various channels throughout the day. I organised them into different categories like Religion, Body & Mind, Money, Sex and Prime Time. I felt it was important to illustrate the kind of messages that television sends us by compacting it and repeating certain images. My intention was to disassemble and reassemble these images in order to drive home certain points.
