De ∆ Signing the Body is about being suspicious of representation and of categories. It's about recognition and mis-recognition. The coded female body, particularly as it is marked by gender and Jewishness, is the territory being investigated. The video is an autobiographical look at the artist's own body and how it has been marked, both by her and by outside forces. This past summer, the video was shown at the Inside/Out Collective Fifth Annual Lesbian and Gay Film and Video Festival of Toronto as part of the "Only the Brave: Battles of Body and Mind" programme. They described the video as "A rebellious examination of identity and political change, this first video 'flirts with identity' and grapples with the breaking down of codes"
