TAPECODE 9339

Recorded in Luenta Park on June 12, 1986 in Manila, the tape is a video verite, showing us in close-up, an impromptu celebration of the fall of the Marcos regime. The images are quirky, with references to ancient ritual, but brought into a contemporary milieu. It is an odd pagan ritual in which young men with blue-painted bodies swing their hips provocatively to a primitive drum ensemble.
