David Buchan: man-about-town
1996, 22:00 minutes, colour, English
This videotape was produced to accompany the exhibition, David Buchan: man-about-town, exhibited at Grimsby Public Art Gallery in 1996. The artistic production of David Buchan (1950-1993) included performances, photo-text works and magazine pieces, installations and large-scale cibachrome transparencies and prints. In this video, interviews with friends and colleagues from throughout his career are interspersed with video footage of his appearances in his own work and that of colleagues. Predominant amongst these are excerpts from Colin Campbell’s Modern Love (1978), in which Buchan ad-libbed as his persona, Lamonte del Monte. Included also are still images of Buchan’s work; few due to the fact that this video accompanied an exhibition. A list of exhibited works is available in the print catalogue of the same name ISBN 0-920258-19-0.
