Taxi sans détour tells the story of Georges-Yvon Antoine, a Haitian immigrant who has been driving a cab for over eight years. He enjoys the independence of his work but finds the racial comments of certain clients and harassment by some of the white drivers to be very trying. It is only when an incident at a taxi stand threatens his very livelihood that he decides to take matters in hand. With the support of other Haitian drivers, he challenges the complicity of the taxi company for which he works and the local police - who both turn a blind eye to his plight. These events become the background to the creation of Montréal's first Black taxi company.
Taxi sans détour has the feel of a documentary, but it is a fictional reenactment of real experiences of Montréal's Haitian taxi drivers. The principal dramatic roles are interpreted by Haitian cab drivers who play scripted versions of events they, themselves, recounted.

Georges-Yvon Antoine est d'origine haïtienne. Depuis huit ans, il gagne sa vie comme chauffeur de taxi à Montréal. Les remarques des clients et le harcèlement des chauffeurs blancs font partie de la vie ordinaire, jusqu'à ce qu'un incident sur un poste de taxi menace son emploi. Vers qui se tourner? Pour Georges-Yvon Antoine, la limite est atteinte: avec d'autres chauffeurs haïtiens, il entreprend de créer une nouvelle compagnie de taxi.
Dans Taxi sans détour, des chauffeurs haïtiens recréent dans leurs lieux quotidiens certains événements vécus ces dernières années. Ils jouent leurs propres rôles dans ce vidéo-fiction à saveur documentaire. La présence des membres de la famille de Georges-Yvon et la musique originale de Richard Angers sont autant d'éléments qui viennent ... relever cette saveur.
