HERE installation

The combination of constantly moving abstract imagery and a familiar-yet-cryptic soundtrack in HERE reflects the struggle of being aware and present in life’s moment(s).

The "space" created by the abstract imagery and soundtrack of HERE is a representation of a time/space energy field. The mind of the viewer, as it moves in and out of engagement with HERE, parallels the struggle to surrender to the immediate moment. Thoughts of such things as future events, correct behaviour, desires, triggered memories and ignorance distract us from being present in our daily lives. HERE magnifies this experience by confronting the viewer with manual-less abstraction and the viewer’s own interior voices that arise.

The individual images in HERE are like moments of living: they are ungraspable, gone the instant they arrive. They are meant to engulf and entrance viewers, the way being in the present actually does when we let go of the things that prevent us from being in it. Time then disappears.

***Notes on the Installation***
There are numerous ways HERE can be presented for installation. The 12 minute piece that is the single channel version can be looped and projected onto one flat surface or multiple flat surfaces. The more surfaces engaged, the more the imagery surrounds and engulfs viewers. I have also created three different looped versions to be played simultaneously but without the exact same imagery appearing on the surfaces. The soundtrack is the same for each of these three pieces; it can be taken from one tape or all of them. I am in the process of creating hanging projection surfaces that parallel the imagery of HERE.
