Liberation Exposed

Jime Lemoire and Brett MacLean

2004, 14:00 minutes, Colour, English

TAPECODE 157.03

This video explores the tensions of claiming "liberation" when some sexual minorities are given legal recognition, but underlying fears of sexual expression remain deeply embedded. Following a young man's experience within himself and his transgender alter ego, the process stigmatization and fear is exposed as ever-present; the fear and reality of being judged for "divergent" ideas is illuminated in the closing sequences.
