Holding Up (May 8, 1975):
The Artist holds a Sony 'hand-held' camera at arms length, pointed back at his face. The camera is set to be in focus only when it is held at arm's length, arms fully extended, directly opposite the face. It goes out of focus if the arms are bent or droop. The camera and recorder are turned on and the Artist attempts to maintain the portrait by holding the camera steady at the face. The piece is performed for the duration of the tape (approx. 30 minutes). The artist performs the piece naked.
