the 6th Day

This video was created for an open call for submissions for works made using the Schwarzenegger film The 6th Day as the sole image and sound source. Consequently, allowing for any and all means of manipulation, deconstruction, defibrillation, defenistration, digestion, defecation, re-construction of the initial film. Using footage from The 6th Day as the only source material results in a revealing display of the artists' proficiency in their medium and their willingness to dismantle and reconfigure without mercy.

While on an initial simple reading, it may seem to be a reflection of postmodern issues of original and copy, authenticity and representation, the piece is actually more of an experiment in abstract narrative and an attempt to develop a contemporary language.
