In the past years, La Pocha Nostra began remastering archival footage and filming and editing new video pieces while touring around the globe. The goal was to create the first artist-made, multi-purpose, bilingual DVD utilizing performance and video art as a form of experimental pedagogy and to distribute it throughout the library, museum and university systems. Refining a signature form, the 'video graffiti', La Pocha Nostra blends performance and video art together to present political commentary on race, politics, and identity in creative ways involving a spectrum of conceptual, narrative, and satirical approaches.

"Guillermo Gómez-Peña has invited film and video-maker colleagues from around the world to re-envision his own performance works through a collaborative editing process. Gómez-Peña captures the zeitgeist of a ravenous and distorted world, illustrating its inequalities with a straightforward rawness and elegance. As a collaboration, the Graffitis speak to the cultural revolution wrought by technology and globalization; they may be as meaningful to our post-NAFTA generation today as those one-reel travelogues were to the workers filmed leaving the Lumiere Brothers' factory in 1895, embarking on a new century and a new world under the watchful eye of the ubiquitous camera lens."

--Rupert Jenkins, Director, San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery
