SUBDIVISION weaves together a number of short narratives that unfold over the course of a day in suburban Toronto. These stories are simple tales played out against a backdrop of half finished subdivisions and in spaces that are sometimes banal, hidden or intimate. The piece substitutes the high drama of Bollywood or Hong Kong action film, with the drama of everyday. While this is not a music video, it lends from both. The video opens with a young woman singing in the midst of a partially constructed industrial park. It is, in many ways, a typical Canadian story.
