Inuit Piqutingit (What Belongs to Inuit)

ISUMA, Norman Cohn, Katarina Soukup, Bernadette Dean and Zacharias Kunuk

2006, 49:00 minutes, colour, Inuktitut with English subtitles

TAPECODE 219.38

First; we were not intending to do a documentary of our trip to museums (initially we wanted to record Inuit "artifacts" in a journey with our elders and in our language, to promote and preserve Inuit knowledge and language). There was a lot of media interest from the south to cover our "mission", but we turned down the tv interview requests because we wanted to focus on our own objectives and tell the story the way we wanted and not how big television productions or networks would tell it. This is really how and why we worked on Inuit Piqutingit, simply to tell our story.
