Catalog attempts to reconcile two different decade’s approach to socializing by comparing and contrasting the way in which “product” in each decade is sold. Using vintage Eaton’s catalog scans and found internet images, a disturbing trend is revealed when the two decades, the 1970’s, and the 2000’s, are placed side by side. The consumer has become the product to consume, the public gathering place has been sequestered into the private. We are all part of one giant, “Facebooked” Catalog.
