The first film in The Complexity Series is based on a selection of static patterns previously generated by mathematical rules or algorithms using Java. These images were transformed from one into another using "After Effects". The movement and images were matched to an original sound composition made using open source loops and sound effects.
The Complexity Series (4 videos): In early 2000, I started writing computer programs in Java using evolutionary algorithms to generate patterns and abstract images. My goal was to use the changing images not only as 2-D art but also as the basis for animated films to explore the relationship between sounds and images.
